Twiggs County teachers have a profound impact on the lives of their students. When a teacher has a planned or unplanned absence, we rely on skilled substitutes to continue supporting our students’ academic succes. We are currently looking for engaging, reliable substitute teachers for classes at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. In this role, the substitute teacher will cover classes for a full-time teacher when he or she is absent. Expectations include adhering to the day’s lesson plan and ensuring that all students are actively engaged in learning. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and students and the ability to lead classrooms effectively.
Objectives of the Role:
- Maximum Availability to accept assignments
- Understand and execute lesson plans according to teacher guidelines, school guidelines, and school and state standards
- Maintain an orderly classroom environment and provide a positive learning experience
- Become familiar with school emergency protocols, such as fire drills and lockdowns, school procedures, school guidelines and rules
- Adhere to all district and school policies, procedures, and guidelines
Responsibilities:
- Follow teacher’s instructions and timeline for lesson plans
- Record student attendance according to school processes and procedures
- Assign activities and work according to lesson plan
- Provide support to students during active learning time
- Maintain discipline in the classroom
- Foster a safe, productive learning environment in accordance with school and district policies
- Compile daily report for teacher that includes student attendance, lesson-plan progress, disciplinary actions, and any other relevant information
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Must hold a minimum of high school diploma or GED
- Confidence and proficiency in giving instruction
- Ability to pass background check
- Successful completion of substitute training with Middle GA RESA
